Embark on an underwater experience like no other: Snorkeling between tectonic plates at the Silfra Fissure. Silfra boasts up to 150m of underwater visibility and is frequently ranked as one of the top dive sites in the world. Admire views of Iceland's stunning landscape as you ride from Reykjavik to the heart of Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Although the chilly waters are too cold to support much in the way of marine life, Iceland's Silfra crack runs down between the American and European continental plates -drifting apart at 2cm per year- and offers amazing, ethereally blue underwater views.

Enjoy a snorkeling tour of the Silfra Fissure in Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the wonders of the famous Golden Circle route. Float between two tectonic plates in the clearest water in the world with 300 feet, or 100 meters, of visibility. Once you arrive at Silfra, you will be divided into groups of 6 people, one group per guide. Gear up in a wetsuit to keep you warm and comfortable in the cold water. After a safety briefing, make your way to the entry platform to spend about 45 minutes in the water. Float through what is called the Big Crack, Silfra’s narrowest section where the continental plates are so close you can almost touch them. The fissure then widens into Silfra Hall. If you look from the right angle, you can see all the way to lake Thingvallavatn, over 150 meters away.  Enter the Silfra Cathedral at the depth of 23 meters and feel like you’re flying over the boulders and glacial silt. End the snorkeling adventure at the Silfra Lagoon. Enjoy hot chocolate and cookies to warm up. Chat with your guide and ask any questions you might have.

We will pick you up from Reykjavik on our minivan marked with our Troll Expeditions Logo. The pick up starts at the same time stated on your voucher and it can last up to 30 minutes. Once everyone is aboard, off we go to Thingvellir National park to take part in one of the most exciting activities in the world: snorkelling between 2 continental tectonic plates! Our guide will be at the meeting point waiting for you; once there, you will get ready with all the gears we provide: you just need to make sure you wear comfortable clothes (a thin layer of thermal clothes is recommended). It will take 5 minutes to walk to the Silfra fissure. From the outside, you may think this is just a regular lake; wait to be immersed underwater, and you will see the wonders of pure and clear glacier water, with an extraordinary visibility of about 100 meters! Our guide will take photos of you while snorkelling. Once the activity has finished and everyone is ready, we will drive you back to Reykjavik.
