Full description

Have an out-of-this-world adventure while drysuit snorkeling in Silfra rift, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Thingvellir National Park. The hidden natural wonder has 100 meters of underwater visibility with bright colors that make the experience almost unrealistic.

Meet your guide and group directly at the site in Silfra and prepare to travel between two continents in the rift. Be guided through magnificent scenery and view Silfra from the surface while the slow current carries you through the stunning underwater landscape.

Stay dry underneath your drysuit or, for the more adventurous, choose the wetsuit to feel the natural cool waters.

Snorkel through the pure and clean waters of Silfra and end the tour in a lagoon often called "the real blue lagoon" because of the bright blue color of its water.

5 stars because the guides - Alberto, Luis, and Thomas - were all great, the tour was as described, and I have no complaints about how it was handled. I do wish that I knew more going into it though and want to provide more details for anyone else considering a snorkeling tour at Silfra. You can choose wet suits or dry suits. I thought because of the temp that a dry suit would be most comfortable, but the dry suit is extremely tight around your neck and wrists and extremely uncomfortable - my neck is still sore 2 days later. If you can stand the cold for 35 mins of swimming, I highly recommend the wet suit. In the dry suit you are suited up for about 90 mins as others are getting ready and you are walking there/back. Several in our group were having panic attacks from feeling like they couldn’t breathe. It is hard to enjoy the beautiful views when you are only thinking of the pain you’re in. The guides do give the option of either, I just didn’t know how bad the dry suit would be.

Luis was a fantastic guide! Switched from the dressing option to the wetsuit option and it is freaking cold but worth it. My friend saw Arctic Char when he went but no fish for us. Still beautiful water though. Glad it ended when it did; I couldn't have stayed in the water any longer! Good experience, glad I did it, and the guides were friendly and entertaining.

For us it was an incredibly cool and very moving experience. If you imagine snorkeling between the Eurasia and North America continental plates, that's absolutely amazing. We enjoyed every second, even when the clearest water in the world was only 2 'Celcius. We have completely hidden the water temperature. The landscape at the Silfra Fissure is extraordinary and very beautiful, but underwater it is absolutely awesome. Go there and snorkel, you will never regret it.
