Experience

Highlights
  • Snorkel in Silfra and travel between the American and European continental plates
  • See 100 meters of underwater visibility and bright blue colors
  • Be guided along the lagoon often called "the real blue lagoon"
  • Choose from a drysuit or wetsuit to experience the lagoon's natural environment
Full description

Enjoy a guided wetsuit snorkeling tour in the Silfra fissure, located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Thingvellir National Park. Leave Reykjavik behind and discover this hidden natural wonder, where the 100-meter underwater visibility and bright colors make the experience almost unrealistic.

Immerse yourself in the pristine water of Silfra—some of the purest waters on the planet. When snorkeling in Silfra, travel between two continents, ending the tour in a lagoon often called "the real blue lagoon" because of the bright blue color of the water. Snorkeling in Silfra fissure, where you are guided into this magnificent scenery, is a total must-see for all nature and adventure-thirsty travelers. Enjoy freedom in terms of movements and free dive by holding your breath.

Stay dry underneath your drysuit or, for the more adventurous, choose a wetsuit to feel the natural cool waters. The wetsuits used are six millimeter in thickness and isolate the body well from the cold water. Warm up with a cup of hot chocolate and leave feeling reinvigorated

Silfa is amazing though if you are small they add additional constrictions to the dry suit to keep the water out. It’s confining and tight around your neck, some may find the suit anxiety provoking. If you can get past that, the water is spectacular so crystal clear! It’s expensive with a ride from Reykavik but one of those things you shouldn’t miss.

It was overall an amazing and a very special experience to do in Iceland. Especially thanks to Bjarni for getting us through so smoothly and for the cool pictures. Important to know is that you spend hours in prep, dressing up, briefing, dressing back and even more time if you travel from Reykjavik and then you only spend 30-40 mins in the water (it is impossible to stay longer anyway because it gets really cold). However, the drysuits can get really tight, it is quite uncomfortable, that is why I would be willing to pay extra for smaller group so I dont have to wait for the other 20-or-so ppl to get ready for the activity.

Transport arrived on time getting the day off to a great start, which as time moved on only got better. The staff are brilliant, great explanations, putting all participants at ease, from the first timers to those with more experience. With the car showing a temp of -10 was considering if we were doing the right thing, but once dressed &ready to go felt warmer in the water than out. Big BZ to Arturo, Doris - 😍 hot chocolate & of course our guide Bjarni who kept us safe & informed on our trip. Thanks to all the team - next time a summer trip perhaps 😃
