What People Are Saying About Siem Reap Province
Let me start by saying I had never been on a motorbike before. Ever. The guide, Scott, literally taught me everything I know about motorbikes, and I had a great trip through the countryside of Cambodia. Plus, I did not fall off the bike or run into anything, which I consider a pretty good first ride. You see so much more on a bike, and can stop to take in the view or meet the local people. We visited a country house, a local pagoda, and passed some beautiful fields and scenery.
Firstly let me say I am a fairly experienced biker. Iwanted to go off the beaten track a little to experience the real Cambodia, without too much stress. The pick up, instruction on the bike and guide were all excellent - I had a very enjoyable time with Sim, who was very easy going. The bike handled fairly well on the road, though mine developed the yips about 15km from home. On the dirt/sand/mud/puddles, you had to be fairly careful. A couple of times it was very skiddy (after all it is the end of the rainy season here so I suppose I shouldnt complain!) but it was quite nasty avoiding some of the potholes by having to drive along the edge of the ditch. Hang on to your hats, bottles and bags if you hit a pothole! I lost several bottles en route, but did manage to keep my teeth! Be careful if you havent ridden before, but it was tremendously enjoyable!
