Enjoy the best way to experience the sunset over the floating village on Tonle Sap Lake, after dinner you will be transported to Phare: The Cambodian Circus and seated in section B or C (depending on booking).
What to Expect
The best way to experience the sunset over the floating village on Tonle Sap Lake, this unique River Boat tour is great for families, groups or single travelers. Experience the floating villages and relax on the Queen Tara, the biggest boat on the lake, as you watch the sunset in style over the unparalleled view and enjoy the inclusive buffet meal and unlimited drinks. After dinner, enjoy a transfer to Phare: The Cambodian Circus with a seat in section B or C. With hotel pick-up and drop off by a professional guide, this is a hassle-free way to enjoy this special tour.
The tour starts at 3:30 pm, with a pick-up from your hotel or guesthouse in an air-conditioned vehicle. Let your friendly and knowledgeable guides, who speak both English and, of course, Khmer, point out all the sites of local interest along the way and answer any questions you may have on the approximately 20 minute drive to the port near Phnom Krom.
Make three stops en route to the Queen Tara, in the heart of the floating village. First, pass rice paddies and lotus fields for an opportunity to stop and take some photos of the lotus flowers, a deeply important flower in Buddhism (please note, depending on the time of year, the views of the lotus and rice fields will vary). Second, stop at the stilted houses just before the lake and see how the water levels affect the way people live and even get a look at a floating school. Third, tour the Crocodile and Fish Farm (depending on current water levels) and learn about some of the trades of the lake locals. If catfish, crocodiles and large snakes don't interest you, stop at the souvenir shop or viewing deck on board to purchase some presents for loved ones or take a few photos.
On the boat ride through the floating village, see ordinary Cambodians going about their daily life. Fishermen, boat-makers, markets, schools, spirit houses and waving children are always in plentiful supply on this mesmerizing scenic route, and it is not uncommon for the scenery to evoke silence on the small boat as customers take in the sights and sounds that surround them. Once the trip through the floating village is complete, your boat will briefly enter the edge of the great lake before docking at the Queen Tara, the biggest boat on the lake, in the heart of the floating village, with unrivaled views of the floating village and the best place to watch the sunset.
Enjoy a well-deserved full buffet meal and all-you-can-drink beers, wines, cocktails and more. Afterward, take a seat on the viewing deck or chill out on one of the numerous hammocks and to take in the magnificent scenery. If the weather is good, get a first class view of a spectacular sunset, the likes of which you will never forget. Even if there isn’t a sunset, the magnificent and unique cloud linings that form above the great lake are always a spectacle to behold. At about 18:45, depart the Queen Tara and head back to the port at Chong Khneas, where your air-conditioned vehicle awaits to transport you directly to Phare : The Cambodian Circus, where you will watch the show from Section B or C (depending on booking). After the show, your air-conditioned vehicle will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel or guesthouse.
