Daniel was great he picked me up from the hotel and I took about an hour to get there which I loved because I could see what it was like for the siem reap people to live outside of the main town The Elephants oh my god where awesome I absolutely loved every minute with them From feeding, the mud bath, to the river, washing them off was great we all got absolutely soaking (I’m glad I brought a spare change of clothes). You could tell the keepers really loved them. The lady was very informative about the elephants she knew everything from their eating habits to their past . She was very nice nice and easy to talk to. She also liked my Welsh accent. I will definitely be telling people about the elephant sanctuary and that they should go . It’s well worth the price Kindest regards Paul

This is a half day experience at the Elephant Sanctuary and Apopo Rat Demining Centre
NOTE: ELEPHANT SANCTUARY ENTRY TICKETS ARE NOT INCLUDED in the price. Entry ticket will be purchased at the sanctuary. Various experience options are available: Adults 11yrs and older - $75 (2hrs) or $45 (1hr), 3-10yrs $62.
APOPO RAT DEMINING CENTRE TICKETS ARE NOT INCLUDED in the price. Entry ticket price - $10ea.

Both Morning and Afternoon tour is available.
Morning: Elephant Sanctuary followed by Apopo Rat Demining Centre
Afternoon: Apopo Rat Demining Centre followed by Elephant Sanctuary

After being picked up from your hotel by airconditioned SUV car, travel approximately 40 minutes outside of Siem Reap to the Elephant Sanctuary. Then possibly join others at the sanctuary where first, an expert guide will give an introductory briefing about elephants in general as well as the elephants at the sanctuary. Then make some handmade appropriate elephant snacks to feed the elephants up close. Next, spend time observing them as they enjoy their natural surrounds and play and wash themselves in the pond.
A snack and coffee or tea is offered at the sanctuary.

Following your time at the Elephant Sanctuary, return to Siem Reap and spend an hour or more at Apopo Rat Landmine Clearing Centre. See how the African Giant Pouched Rat (they are much cuter than they sound and are extremely smart) is trained to detect landmines and unexploded ordinances for clearing. The work at this centre directly reclaims land from landmines allowing it to be returned to farmers and communities for use. See the rats in action and even hold a rat yourself if you want. This is one of the top attractions in Siem Reap and great for families too - kids love meeting the rats.

The afternoon tour is exactly the same but in reverse. Visit Apopo Rat Centre first and then head out to the Elephant Sanctuary.

We had a fantastic trip. I had been looking for both trips individually and it didn't seem one trip combined both options but when mindlessly searching, this trip came up as if from nowhere and provided exactly what we were looking for. We chose the morning tour and went to see the elephants first. There were three in the sanctuary and we got to get up and close and spend a lot of time with them. The stuff you get to do is driven by what the elephants feel like doing. They aren't forced into anything. We fed them, gave them a mud bath and then washed them in the river. I Googled what happy elephants do and it's flap their ears and wag their tales. We saw plenty of that during our time there. There is a real sense of care by the staff and it's great to see. The hero rat tour was about one hour and we got to hold two of them and learned a lot of great info. Our driver, Chay, was very friendly and I highly recommend people to take this trip if they are into animals!
