Full description
This half-day boat tour of the Floating Village is the perfect option for those who don't have the time to explore Prek Toal or Kompong Phluk during their stay in Siem Reap. Your boat tour begins at your hotel or guesthouse, where a knowledgeable tour guide will pick you up and accompany you to the port near Phnom Krom in an air-conditioned vehicle. Let your friendly English and Khmer-speaking guides point out areas of local interest along the way and answer any questions you may have. En route to the main boat, make a couple of stops. First, as you pass the rice paddies and lotus fields, stop and take some photos of the lotus flowers, a deeply important flower in Buddhism (please note: depending on the time of year, the views of the lotus and rice fields will vary). Next, stop at the crocodile and fish farm (depending on current water levels) and learn about some of the trades people on the lake work in. If catfish, crocodiles and large snakes don't interest you, stop at the souvenir shop or viewing deck on board to purchase some presents for loved ones or take a few photos. During your boat ride through the floating village, see ordinary Cambodians going about their daily life in the floating village. Your boat will briefly enter the edge of the Great Lake before docking at the Queen Tara, the biggest boat on the lake, in the heart of the floating village. There, enjoy a well-deserved snack with fruit. Afterwards, take a seat on the viewing deck. Once lunch is over, depart the Queen Tara and head back to the port, where your air-conditioned vehicle awaits to transport you back to your hotel or guesthouse.

Disappointing. Description does not match what you actually get.

Disappointing. The Crocodile and fish farm was nothing more than one large caged area under the deck housing a couple of crocodiles and a tiny netted area a couple of feet long and wide with some catfishes. Seems more like an excuse to get you to visit the souvenir shop than anything else. Didn't get to board the main boat which was supposed to be a "private floating restaurant with a viewing deck" but instead got driven to a platform of sorts which was only large enough for 6 tables and a small kitchen. Plus the tour guide was half an hour late to a 4 hour tour to start with!
