Full description
Discover the marvelous Jungle Temple of Siem Reap - a hidden treasure. Off the beaten track and away from typical tourist routes, this temple has only recently become accessible to the public, thanks to the improvement of the roads leading in. An easy day trip from Siem Reap, the Hindu temple, which also depicts some Buddhist motifs, is now easily visible. Unlike Angkor Wat and other temples in the area, the Jungle Temple has been preserved in its original state. Sandstone blocks, secret passages, hidden archways and fallen galleries all add to the adventure of exploring the ruins. Your local guide will reveal the history and mysteries of the temple as you tour the magnificent grounds in the heart of the jungle. After you have explored the complex you will then be taken to see the nearby village of Kompong Khleang, and your guide will show you where the sandstone was cut from the mountain and explain how the blocks were transported to the site. You will then stop for a well-deserved rest and lunch at a Khmer restaurant. Afterwards, you will take a minivan back to Siem Reap.

The guide was very gentle and nice. I really enjoyed the tour. It was worth it.

Beng Mealea is overrun with tourists!

The tour was sold as rather exclusive, few tourists and more of a solitary experience and accordingly expensive. However, there were extremely many tourists, one car after the other unloaded more visitors. Rather disappointing. However, Kompong Khleang was great, one of the largest lakes in Southeast Asia and practically no tourists. However, the guide for the day spoke almost no English, which made communication difficult. Other tours in Siem Reap were much better there.
