    3. Taormina: Sicilian Cooking Class & Market Tour

    Spend a morning in Taormina learning how to cook delicious Sicilian food from a professional chef. At the end of the class, participants enjoy the lunch they created along with wine. Meeting at 10:00 AM at the Arch of Porta Messina, the activity starts with a guided tour of the market of Taormina. Shopping for fresh ingredients, the group will enjoy learning about the local produce and take part in a small tasting of salamis and cheeses. Back at the restaurant the chef will explain the recipes in program while guests take a break for coffee. The preparation and the cooking of the food will then start, with the making of hand-made pasta a highlight. Once the dishes are prepared, everybody is invited to the table for the typical local lunch with accompanying wines. Afterwards, each participant will receive a certificate and an autographed apron as a souvenir of this special day.

    We traveled to multiple places in Italy, France and Greece over the two weeks and did a dozen or so experiences/tours. This was probably our favorite due to the warm and inviting nature of our host family. We enjoyed just spending time with a wonderful family who has a true passion for bringing travelers into their home to share a meal and their culture.

Along with her husband, she has developed a refined menu of Sicilian recipes, using fresh produce and raw materials from the island. During your lesson, discover how to prepare the fish and vegetables bought from the local market and use olive oil produced in Sicily. Prepare a typical four-course meal composed of dishes based on the Sicilian tradition such as tomato and eggplants pasta or anchovies, flan, pasta with zucchini and pistachios, vegetable rolls with orange, and, of course, Panna cotta from the Etna region, all paired with local red wines.

    My husband and I enjoyed our time with Anna! She was a great host and amazing cook. Her passion for food is evident in her explanations in different types of food, wheat, flour... Apparently food runs in her family's blood! We made a delicious caponata, trapanese pesto and fresh pasta. She made us work for our lunch which is exactly what we look for in a cooking class. Definitely recommend her!

The pizza making class was such an amazing experience to share with friends. It wasn’t just a pizza making class as we first made bread, then learnt how to make pasta and finally pizza. We had a great time playing with dough and tasting all of our creations. Maurizio is a wonderful teacher. Couldn’t have asked for more.

Special experience of our trip - the Cooking class with Patricia was really nice, we ve learnt delicious reciepts and had a warm chat with each other Highly recommended if you want to learn more from Sicily than just looking around
