Travel from Sichuan to the Dujiangyan Dam on a full-day excursion which features an ancient technological wonder, a dam that was built more than 2,000 years ago and is still in use today.
After at 7:30 pick-up, make the journey to the Dujiangyan Dam, an irrigation infrastructure built in 256 BC by the Kingdom of Qin during the Warring States Period of China. It is located in the Min River in Sichuan province, China, near the capital Chengdu.
Listen as your English-speaking guide shares its history with you, explaining how the dam is still in use today to irrigate more than 5,300 square kilometers of land in the region. The Dujiangyan, along with the Zhengguo Canal in Shaanxi Province and the Lingqu Canal in Guangxi Province, are known as “the three great hydraulic engineering projects of the Qin Dynasty.”
