We start our trip in the morning with travelling to the Corvin's Castle in Hunedoara, also known as Hunyadi Castle or Hunedoara Castle, which one of the most beautiful medieval castles in the world. Visit Sighisoara, founded by Transylvanian Saxons during the 12th century. Depart from Sibiu in the morning and set off for Sighisoara, designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore this perfectly intact 16th century gem with nine towers, cobbled streets, burgher houses and ornate churches which could rival the historic streets of Old Prague or Vienna. It is also the birthplace of Vlad Dracula, also known as Vlad the Impaler, ruler of the province of Walachia from 1456 to 1462 and the figure who inspired Bram Stoker's fictional creation, Count Dracula.  On your way back to Sibiu, you will cross Biertan village, one of the most important Saxon villages with fortified churches in Transylvania. In Sibiu, you'll start off by seeing the city's walls and the three main squares. Then you'll visit two of the most important churches. Climbing up to the top of the Council Tower will give you a beautiful overview of the old city. In the afternoon, you will take a short excursion from Sibiu to visit two villages that seem to be stuck in time: Cristian and Sibiel. Here, the population lives from what it produces locally and horse-drawn carriages are a daily occurrence. Explore some of the most important sites in the legendary Transylvania region of Romania on a 3-day package tour from Bucharest. With bed and breakfast accommodation in a 3-star hotel, you will explore the city of Sibiu, once ranked by Forbes Magazine as “Europe’s 8th most idyllic place to live.” Visit medieval castles and monasteries, and explore the fable of Count Dracula. Day 1: Depart from Bucharest and visit the Moorish Monastery of Curtea de Argeș, built by the ruler of Wallachia, Prince Neagoe Basarab, in 1514. Continue to the small Cozia Monastery to discover one of the most important monuments of national medieval art in Romania. After a break for lunch in a traditional Romanian restaurant, drive through the stunning Translyvanian landscape to Sibiu, historic capital of the Principality of Transylvania. The first documented evidence of the medieval citadel dates back to 1235. Day 3: Following an overnight stay in Brasov, start your day at the city’s Black Church, built in 1383, and the most important tourist site in Brasov. If you travel to Bucharest and have just a little time to discover Romania, this tour is the perfect way to visit some of the most interesting sites, including the southern part of Transylvania. Day 1 BUCHAREST–SINAIA–BRASOV–SIGHISOARA (309 km) Pick up in the morning from your hotel. Prepare to leave behind the region of Wallachia and step into the legendary land of Transylvania, the country beyond the forest where many myths were born and time still flows slowly for those living here. On the way, you will stop at Sinaia, a very famous mountain resort known also as the “Pearls of the Carpathians”. Here we will visit Peles Castle, the former summer residence of the first Royal couple of Romania, King Carol 1st and Queen Elisabeth. Considered one of the most beautiful castles in Europe, the construction is impressive thanks to the architectural style and decorations, but most of all thanks to the beautiful interior design and the modern facilities for the last half of the XIXth century (electricity, vacuum cleaner, electrical elevator and central heating). Here you will also find out the story of the Royal couples in Romania and their important influence in the history of the country. The next stop is Brasov, Kronstadt (“the city of the crown”) under its German name. You are now officially in Transylvania! In Brasov, you will have lunch in a typical restaurant and enjoy a lovely walk on the narrow cobblestone streets of the old city center. You will see The Council Square, The Council Tower, and the famous Black Church, the largest Gothic construction in Eastern part of Europe. In the evening, head to Sighisoara for dinner and overnight in the medieval citadel. Do not miss a short walk in the citadel and admire the medieval buildings at the light of the lanterns. Prepare to step back time! Day 2 SIGHISOARA–BRAN-BUCHAREST (329 km) After the breakfast, you will start the day by visiting the citadel of Sighisoara (UNESCO Monument), the only medieval citadel in the Balkans which is still inhabited. You will find out the story of the citadel, you will see the well preserved walls and towers of defense and admire the medieval houses aligned along narrow old streets. The highlights of the citadel are: the house where it is said that Vlad the Impaler (known as Dracula) was born, the Clock Tower (on the top of which you can take some beautiful panoramic pictures with the citadel), the Covered Stairs and the Evangelical Church. In the afternoon, you will head to Bran and visit Bran Castle, which became so famous thanks to the legend of Dracula. Here you will find out how this legend was born and why Transylvania is until nowadays related to it. A friendly tip – some garlic could come in useful during the visit! In the evening, return to Bucharest and drop off at your hotel.
