9. From Tokyo: Kamakura and Enoshima Full-Day Private Tour
Head out on a full-day private tour south of Tokyo to Kamakura, the seaside, medieval capital of Japan and home of the samurai. Get a taste of the beautiful landscapes, temples, and shrines, as well as the exact locations featured in the manga Slam Dunk. End your day with a visit to the small island of Enoshima.
After being picked up from your hotel, enjoy the scenic drive to Kamakura with your private driver. The first stop on your tour will be visiting Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, Kamakura’s most important Shinto shrine. Then, head down Komachi Street, a popular shopping street, where you can enjoy local seafood, snacks, and souvenirs.
Next up is a visit to the Hase-dera Temple, home of the famous 11-headed statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy. Moving on from Hase-dera Temple, check out one of the most iconic places in Kamakura, the Kotoku-in Temple with its huge bronze statue of Buddha.
The last stop on the tour is Enoshima, a small island located west of Kamakura. Access it by riding the Enoden, an iconic single-track train. On clear days, you can see stunning views of Mt. Fuji. After this full-day tour, enjoy the drive back to your hotel in Tokyo, arriving around 6:00 PM.
