Full description

Begin your journey as the sun sets and reach its climax as the sun rises again on this transformative hiking experience to the top of Mount Moses. See the sunrise from the summit of the world's most famous holy site, and take time after to visit St. Catherine's Monastery.

Get picked up from your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh the night before your hike and head to Moses Mountain in an air-conditioned van. Begin your journey to the holy site where the Prophet Moses received the Ten Commandments once you reach Mount Sinai.

Ascend 750 stairs and continue your trek through the night, reaching up to 2,286 meters.

Depending on the group's performance, you could get to the top sooner than you planned. Enjoy an opportunity to relax completely as you witness the sun's magnificence slowly dispersing across the mountains. Take some amazing pictures or pray while admiring the sunrise, then start the ascent back down. Keep in mind that it will take around two hours to reach the bottom. After a strenuous hike, take some time to relax and have breakfast. Visit St. Catherine's Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site next. Examine the ancient texts on exhibit at the library. Once the monastery tour is over, unwind as you make your way back to your Sharm El Sheikh hotel.

The trip was very nice, but quite hard to do. You need a more then average condition to do this without a problem. Else is will take more time (and motivation) to get to the top. The trip feels kind of rushed as the stops in between are very short. (2-3 min) There was not even a few minutes of time to make a great picture of the stars and the mountains, the focus in 100% at reaching the top on time before the actual sunrise (note, the sky is already turning red an hour before the actual sunrise, so when you want to get some great night sky pictures as well keep this in mind). The mountain guide self was very helpful for my partner which was having troubles keeping up. For this a big thanks. The night walk will be cold, around the freezing point, and the road is rough, so good shoes and warm clothing is very advised. The (main)-tour guide was really helpfull in explaining extra info about places of Egypt, (info which the guide of another tour did not bother to share), so also thanks

Mount Sinai (Moses Mountain) 2285m 21.12.2022. A part of the world assumes that this is the Mount Sinai mentioned in the Bible and because of it it is holy and so many people go to it every year that it is necessary to build a new airport and infrastructure around near Sinai (the construction is promised to be completed in 2 years). There is certainly a blessing there, if you believe strongly, but what I saw - business and dirt, yes, of course also the majesty and beauty of nature. It's also beautiful to wait for the sunrise with a few hundred other people who mostly came for tourism that day. The sunrise was beautiful. I also forget to mention that the climb takes about 2 hours maximum if you walk smoothly (~ 700 meters of height), but you have to start climbing at least 4.5 hours in advance, so that you have time to freeze your thighs in every booth while sitting on a stone covered with a blanket and want to drink all the tea and buy all kinds of other wonders that are on offer.
