The desert tour will take you into a canyon, fill your belly with Bedouin food, and teach you how to sandboard. All in a day’s work!
What to Expect
You kick off your day tour from Sharm el-Sheikh by getting picked up from your hotel at 7am and setting out into the desert in a Jeep with your local guide. The morning drive will take us around 2.5 hours, so you can shake off the shackles of sleep with the incredible desert views, or catch a few more z’s if you’re not a morning person! We’ll stop be the roadside a couple of times on this ride, because the photo ops are unmissable.
We’ll see the change from mountain range to desert plateau as we head into the canyon, a fascinating part of the world where a number of Bedouin families call home. We’ll jump out of the Jeep when we reach the top of the canyon, and take a hike down a chimney of rock sculpted out by the winds over hundreds of years. Your local guide will be with you the entire way, so don’t worry if you’re not a pro-climber! With your guide, you’ll make it safely down to the valley floor, from where you’ll hike for around an hour amongst the stunning limestone canyon walls.
Next stop – lunch time. We’ll take a break on this Egypt desert tour to refuel our bodies with some typical Bedouin lunch. Your local guide will prepare the food while you take a rest or explore the area for a little while – or you’re welcome to give you leader a hand and learn some Bedouin techniques if you wish! In true Bedouin style, we’ll cook over an open fire and enjoy this delicious meal around a camp fire with the group. Your desert tour will also make a stop off at a local Bedouin house and have some tea with a local family – a unique experience to say the least.
After recharging the batteries, we’ll hop back into our Jeep and head out towards the dunes, where we’ll get down to some serious sandboarding! You’ll be shown a couple of techniques from your local guide, as well as given a few safety tips, and then the dunes are all yours to conquer. Just remember that you have to climb back up the dunes once you’ve boarded down it!
Finally, no doubt exhausted from all that surfing, we’ll get back into the Jeep and drive back to Sharm el-Sheikh. Your local guide will drop you off back at your hotel, where you can rest up and reflect on your day of desert adventure.

Know Before You Go
We recommend that you wear loose cotton clothing that covers your chest and shoulders. For the hike and extra grip on the sandboards, rubber-soled shoes are best. Please also bring sunscreen, a hat, and a light scarf to keep the sun off you head and shoulders.
