What You'll Do
  • Enjoy the perfect introduction for first-time visitors
  • Have free hotel pick-up and drop-off included
  • Tour the city and its most famous gardens, museums and temples
Today’s city tour will take you through some of Shanghai’s most famous cultural sights including the Shanghai museum, the Bund, the Yu Garden, a cruise down the Huangpu River and the opportunity to taste some traditional temple snacks.
What to Expect
After meeting your guide in your hotel lobby, you will start an exciting full-day tour. Your first stop is the Yu Garden, the city’s most famous example of the traditional gardens as historically kept by wealthy families in the Ming & Qing Dynasties. After exploring the Yu Garden, you will spend some time wandering through the markets and bazaars of Shanghai’s Old Town. This is the perfect opportunity to get souvenir shopping done while soaking up the atmosphere of old Shanghai.

The next stop is the Shanghai Museum, which was opened since 1994. This relatively new Shanghai Museum houses a spectacular collection of Chinese relics. This museum is the perfect way to reflect on Shanghai’s history, and to give you more background information on the city. You will then be taken for lunch in the Chenghuangmiao temple area, where you can taste all kinds of snacks. Your guide will help you to explain what everything is, so you can make the most of trying different types of food.

Then you will be brought to board your Huangpu River Cruise. The cruise offers an extraordinary view of the Bund and its promenade, which are landmarks of Shanghai’s 9th century struggle to reclaim a waterfront from the blogs of this river, which originates in nearby Tai Lake. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to walk along the wide boulevard of the Bund, lined with impressive neo-classical buildings, dating back to Shanghai’s grandest days. Finally, you will be taken back to your hotel.
