Full description

Discover the ancient Roman city of Italica on this guided day trip from Seville. Travel aboard a comfortable and air-conditioned van. See mosaics, Roman ruins, and areas that were used as film locations for the popular Game of Thrones TV show.

Depart from Seville and drive a few minutes north to the village of Santiponce, the site of one of the most important and largest Roman ruins in Spain. Reach the well-preserved ruins of the Roman city of Italica.

Explore this sites that was founded in the year 206 BC by General Publius Cornelius Scipio as a place of settlement for soldiers wounded in the battle of Illipa. Stroll through the birthplace of Marcus Ulpius Trajan (53 AD) and his successor, Aelius Hadrian (76 AD).

Marvel at the massive amphitheater, one of the largest in the Roman Empire with a seating capacity for up to 25,000 people. Wander through the tunnels where the gladiators would have walked and stand in the den that housed the lions.

Go to places where scenes from the Game of Thrones television series were filmed. The amphitheater was the setting of the Dragonpit, where several key characters held a summit in season seven.

Continue to the monastery of San Isidoro del Campo, a medieval fortress from the Mudejar, Gothic, and Baroque periods. Return to your meeting point in Seville at the end of your tour.

Our Guide Barbara was great, we could not find parking in Seville and asked her how to get there and we met them @ Italica. The ruins were well maintained and we really enjoyed it. The Amphitheater was awesome! Our guide was passionate about giving us the descriptions of everything and made the trip from the Algarve worth it for a one-day trip. The Monastery was cool too the detail in explaining things to our group was well worth the price. Taras from Montreal Canada

Bring a hat! The sun is intense in the summer and there are not a lot of trees. If you are a nerd for Roman Ruins and history, like me, this is a fantastic site to tour. But if you are expecting more than ruins, then go straight to the Monastery. Loved everything about this tour except for the fact that due to COVID the tunnels and second story of the arena were closed to visitors. Definitely a disappointment, but not the fault of the guide/touring company. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and filled in any gaps that I had regarding the history of both the ancient Roman site and the monastery.

Informative and Beautifl

The guide was knowledgeable and personable. We loved her. They changed the pick up point a few days before the event and were unable to reach me to let me know. I thought we were not going to be able to go. They sent a car for us that brought us right to the site to join the group. They went above and beyond to make sure we didnt miss this important part of our trip as we were leaving the next day. FIVE STARS for customer service. And we loved the tour.
