From Rhodes: Lindos, Seven Springs and Kalithea Private Tour
Embark on a scenic drive along the East Coast. Explore three of the most popular locations of Rhodes island: The Springs of Kalithes, the historical village of Lindos and the awarded beach of St. Paul's. An experienced driver will pick you up from your place, and following the East Coast, will drive towards to our 1st stop: the Thermal Springs of Kalithea. People have been visiting these natural springs since the 7th century B.C. to experience the therapeutic power of the water. Legend has that Hippocrates drank this water and recommended it to people with stomach problems. In the early 1900s, the Italians occupied the island, which brought more attention to this area. They built the Rotunda with pebble mosaics. In 1930 more than 200 scientists came to witness the therapeutic power of the water with their own eyes. During World War II, Germans turned the area into a prison. In the modern era, the springs are featured in several International Hollywood movies, such as “The Guns of Navarone,” “Escape to Athena,” and “Poirot and the Triangle of Rhodes.” Today the area no longer offers thermal attributes but still is a place of great history and lots of things to see and do. Second stop: Seven Springs. One of the most charming destinations on Rhodes, Seven Springs (Epta Piges), offers a cool, magical landscape, a real oasis, even in the heat of high summer, a charming retreat in the most lavish of Mediterranean greens. Water flows out of the springs all year around, which is forming a small lake. The lake remains replenished thanks to a dam built by the Italians, in order to provide the nearby settlement Kolympia with fresh water. The access to the lake at seven springs is very popular with visitors and offers a unique experience. If you feel adventurous enough, you can to walk through the 186 meters long and 2.5 meters high and very narrow dark tunnel to get to the lake. This tunnel, constructed back in 1931, leads the water that flows out of the seven springs and from the river Loutanis into the lake. Third stop to Lindos. Lindos is a must-see site with labyrinthine streets, white houses, religious and ancient monuments, nice restaurants, and stylish boutiques. Take a leisurely walk, check out local crafts, snap great photos, sample ice cream or fresh orange juice, or head to the Acropolis of Lindos and tour the archaeological site. Meet your driver again and continue to the next stop. Next stop for swimming: The St. Paul's beach. Enjoy your swimming to the crystal clear waters of this awarded beach. This is a well oganized beach with sunbeds and a local bar-restaurant. In case that this beach is overcrowed, we could stop for swimming at a neighboring beach, such as Vlicha, Kalathos, Tsambika or Agathi. After a day full of images and new experiences, we'll drive back to your place.
