Setúbal and Tróia: Dolphin Watching and Arrábida Bays

Setúbal and Tróia: Dolphin Watching and Arrábida Bays

Firstly, we will look for and meet the Sado bottlenose dolphins to observe and interpret their behaviors (30 minutes is the time allowed by law to watch dolphins). Later we will visit all the bays of Arrábida, including the beaches of Galapos, Galapinhos, Portinho da Arrábida, Alpertuche, and the Santa Margarida cave and Anixa island, etc. We will also take a closer look at some monuments such as the Fort of Outão, the Fort of Santa Maria, and the Convent of Arrábida. By sailing a little faster, we look for dolphins in many more places (we have a success rate that stands out: 99.9%). The shallow depth of the boats allows us to enter the bays of Arrábida and have an incomparably closer and more complete experience. Depending on the number of reservations, we will do the tour on a larger or smaller boat. It's so rare that we don't see dolphins, that if this happens, we offer you free vouchers to repeat this experience whenever you want. We don't like microphones. On board, there will always be a guide, "live and in person", who will tell you some stories and curiosities about dolphins and the various emblematic places that we will visit in the Arrábida Natural Park. The speed and the music onboard make the perfect match for a unique and fun sailing experience.

Setúbal: Dolphin-Watching Boat Tour

Setúbal: Dolphin-Watching Boat Tour

Explore the Arrabida coast on a cruise from Setúbal. Watch dolphins play in their natural habitat, sail by the Troia Peninsula, and marvel at the turquoise water. Depart from Setúbal and head out into the waters of Sado river passing by Albarquel beach, the Comenda palace and the Outão lighthouse that marks the entry into the clear waters of the ocean. Then be amazed by the unique view of the beaches of Figueirinha, Galapos, Coelhos, Creiro and Portinho da Arrábida where you can take a dip in their turquoise blue waters where you can take a refreshing swim (only in Summer). Continuing our trip we will visit Alpertuche beach and the Arrábida cliffs with their small caves. We will also visit the small islands in the Sado mouth. However, so much beauty cannot make us forget the main objective of our trip: watching dolphins in their natural habitat. Our skipper will change the order of this itinerary depending on this great objective, making it possible to sail out to sea in search of these friendly wild animals. As you approach the dolphins, watch as they playfully swim alongside the boat and smile at their antics before returning to Setúbal. We will observe bottlenose dolphins, which have a colony in the Sado river, or common dolphins normally found in the open sea. Dolphins are wild animals and are not always found in the same place. Our company can find them on around 99% of boat trips. If you find yourself in the remaining 1%, you will be entitled to a free voucher to repeat the experience. Our skippers are highly qualified people in navigation and maritime safety. Our company is also a navigation school. Your safety is a priority for us. The boat is virtually unsinkable and is equipped with state-of-the-art life rafts as well as radio communications. It is an open boat that allows you to see dolphins from a very short distance. It is also a very fast boat as dolphins are very fast animals. In winter, be equipped for the cold even if it seems hot on land. The temperature at sea can drop a lot and the trip can be humid due to the spray. Are you ready for this marine adventure? Feel the power of wild nature, the silence of the ocean and appreciate its magic! Children will love the dolphins. It's a memorable experience.

My children and I had an amazing time with Rafael, our guide. The scenery was breathtaking, the climbing was a good mix of challenging enough that we felt like we accomplished something and pushed ourselves but it was doable. Rafael was knowledgeable about culture, geology, flora, and history. He didn’t have any forced corny jokes. He was patient, explained everything thoroughly, and I could tell he really likes what he does. If you are an experienced climber, this isn’t the best option for you, if you are not steady on your feet, also not a good option. I am really glad we made the last minute decision to go on this adventure.

Miguel and Diego guided us on a very enjoyable experience. Snorkelling was comfortable with the provided wetsuits. The location was secluded which allowed visibility of numerous ocean wildlife. After our swim we were provided with hot tea and cookies which were the perfect snack. At the end of the activity Miguel provided drinks and created an atmosphere of relaxation and friendship. Conversing for over an our with our tour mates and hosts enjoying a diverse dialogue. This is a well managed and enjoyable tour that I would recommend.
