Discover some of the highlights of the Seoul region on this full-day tour, including the Suwon Fortress.
What to Expect
The first stop on your tour is the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, an impressive structure from the latter part of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) and the official fortress of Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do. The fortress was designated as Historical Monument No. 3 in January 1963, and in December 1997, it was designated an UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
Hwaseong Trolley is a tourist trolley that travels between Mt. Paldalsan and Yeonmudae. The front of the trolley is shaped like a powerful dragon that signifies King Jeongjo. Another fascinating stop will be the Hwaseong Haenggung Palace, located outside of Seoul.
Lunch will be Korean beef cut into bite-size pieces before being marinated with a mixture of salt, pepper, and garlic. The beef is grilled on charcoal to drain the fat and make the beef juicier. It is served with a number of small and savory side dishes like spicy cabbage (kimchi), Korean sweet pumpkin pancake (jeon), and others.
Finally, see the Korean Folk Village - a living museum showing the lifestyle of several centuries ago. There are potters, weavers, blacksmiths and other artisans who practice their trades in a traditional fashion. There are also 270 traditional houses and a small amphitheater for folk music and dance performances.
