Explore over 4 city blocks of historic Pioneer Square and wander through 3 underground passageways originally constructed in the 1890s. Learn the history of Seattle's construction and about the tragedy that befell the city and its habitants along the way. Follow along as your guide regales you with fascinating true stories of how Seattle was born and the tragedies that befell it as it formed, including the Seattle Fire. Learn about the rebirth of Seattle after the fire, and the decision to raise the city streets out of the swampy grounds. See where retaining walls were added alongside the streets and filled to make new roads several feet above where they originally stood.

The tour was engaging and taught us little known facts about Seattle. It would be a difficult activity for small children but perfect for ages 7 and up. The stairs are a little steep but not too bad. If it is raining or chilly outside, dress for the weather. It was drippy and cold underground (we expected this though.)

Seattle Underground Tour is the best hour of entertainment in town. We took a week off to kick around Seattle and Puget Sound. We took in a couple of movies and other activities and none of it stuck with us like this tour. The Guides are beyond professional. They bring a hidden story of the past to life better than any book or website can. The tours go 7 days a week. We took the 10:30 AM tour. A great way to start a vacation day in the city!

Our first time in Seattle and it was between this and the ghost tour. We opted for the underground tour and it did not disappoint. Our guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He’s must’ve done this tour a million times but he was full of excitement while giving us our tour.
