From Taormina: The Godfather Sicily Tour

From Taormina: The Godfather Sicily Tour

'We're going to make you an offer you can't refuse'. Well, this used to be Mafia country, after all. In fact, Hollywood descended on this part of the world to film scenes for the Godfather trilogy, so this tour will take in two Sicilian mountain villages that made it onto the silver screen and to relive some of the the most famous scenes. Little more than ghost towns, these Sicilian villages are virtually abandoned these days. First up will be little Savoca, where you'll find the church where Michael Corleone – played by Al Pacino – got married. You'll walk in his footsteps as you discover the winding alleyways, and even sit in his chair in Bar Vitelli. After a glorious ride through the countryside, you'll soon arrive in medieval Forza d'Agro, a small mountain village, where you'll see the Church of Annuncation, also of Godfather fame. Even if you're not a fan of the films, the views from these clifftop villages are second to none.

We had a very interesting and informative explanation about the filming locations of The Godfather movie from our tour leader. Went for a coffee at Bar Vitelli and afterwards went for a beautiful walk around the area. Visited the church were the marriage scene was held. Savoca is a beautiful village not just because of the movie but also to relax and enjoy the beautiful endless views. Definitely worth the visit. Afterwards we headed to Taormina. You have around 3 hours here to walk and explore, visit the theatre if you have time, do some shopping or just enjoy a lovely lunch. Our tour leader Mr.Rustian Caccetta, was very cordial and perfectly on time to pick us up for the voyage. Driving was very good made the tour very enjoyable. If you want to spend a nice day definitely book this activity. Well done and thank you for a lovely day.

Guide was amazing, very knowledgeable and spoke well. The 3 cities were great- beautiful locations. I took the brunch option which was ok- food was pretty basic. Next time I will opt out of anything with food included. Otherwise the trip was perfect- covering the three cities in one day with plenty of time to explore as well.

Very reliable and flexible company with prompt communication. We went on 3 tours with them, all of them were great. Giuseppe was a very entertaining and knowledgeable guide. The highlight of the day was Savoca for us, the scenic setting of the Godfather movie. Make sure to try the Lemon Granita at Bar Vitelli.
