Full description
After meeting your expert guide at the Savannah Visitor Center, head straight to lunch at legendary Sandfly BBQ, a Savannah hotspot specializing in pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. Satiated by some of the best food the South has to offer, you’ll head on to a scenic drive through the Isle of Hope Historic District. Landscaped with old oak trees covered in Spanish moss, the houses range in style from Greek revival to craftsman bungalows—but above all, feel as if they were directly pulled from another century.
After the drive along the bluff through the vast Georgia marshes, you’ll end up at the Wormsloe Historic Site, a former plantation known for its preserved ruins and vast, oak-lined boulevards. Through a docent-led tour of the historical grounds, learn about the history of slavery, and the role plantations played in the Civil War. Afterwards, on the way back, you’ll swing by the renowned Byrd Cookie Company for a cookie tasting—a perfect treat to bring back home.
