What people are saying about Sarandë
Everyone was really friendly, helpful and nice. The restaurant where we had the coffee break and lunch was spotless-- the food abundant, fresh and delicious. Our young guide just didn't seem to know a much as the other guides we read about in the reviews, nor compared what we saw in action at Butrint. I really like archealogical sites; my family less so. Butrint is more for people into old stones, especially if the guide can't help to bring the site to "life". Be aware that that you will NOT see the mosaic at the baptismal (big disappointment). It is covered with sand for protection. None of our party needed a wheelchair, but I really don't see how a wheelchair could be accommodated for this trip. We brought our bathing suits and took a stroll along the boardwalk and a dip at the Saranda beach during the hour of free time. Bring cash to purchase gifts. The vendors will tell you "it" costs €5 no matter what "it" is. Negotiate the prices. In short: a good day trip and value for money.
Excellent Guide, Butrint is very interesting. The Drink beforehand was welcome and the lunch, although very late for lunch, was both tasty and plentiful. Great hospitality. We were all concerned on the return trip when the wind got up and the boat became unsteady. We were on the top deck and the unsecured plastic chairs all toppled over with the people thrown over the deck. Some suffered cuts and abrasions and we all felt a little worried. We think, certainly on the outward trip from Corfu, that the boat had been overloaded with Albanians and their luggage(many suitcases) that I don't think were part of the original passenger manifest. We were all grateful to eventually turn to starboard, get away from the wind, and eventually get back to land at Corfu. Also, at no stage did we show our ticket either in Corfu or Albania so security is somewhat lapse...…...
Excellent tour of Albania and Butrint park with a very knowledgeable local guide who was a history student in that area. The time in Saranda after Butrint could have been used for a guided walk around the centre or a chosen monument. Instead we were left to walk around idly by ourselves for an hour. Clearer instructions could have been given for the arrival time at Corfu harbour as the pickup coach seemed to take a long time and then we waited in line for 40minutes at the harbour. Other than these details a really unique chance to visit a country that I might not have considered before.
The guide was lovely, she spoke good English and explained things quite well! The tour of the national park was brilliant, the park itself was lovely and there was lots of walking involved! The town of Sarandë was ok, it rained and we weren’t quite sure what to do in our free time but there is no one to blame but us as we didn’t researched what we wanted to see. Lunch was nice and there was a lot to choice, I paid few euro and had cake!
We popped out from lunch to the shop during our trip and where left behind, even that we have return on time.Tour guide Gregory hasn't missed us and move to the next location (by bus) .Luckily enough for us we knew the name of next location and managed to get a taxi
