This tour of Santiago will take you to see the cultural highlights of central Santiago, such as historical monuments, palaces, museums, churches, as well as typical sites in downtown Santiago.
What to Expect
You will start this tour by biking through the Parque Forestal, home to the Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts (Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes), which exists as one of the major centers for Chilean art. Next you will be heading towards the Bulnes promenade and La Moneda Palace (The Presidential Palace) that hides stories from the years of the military coup in Chile.
Next you will be visiting New York Street, where you will see a range of cultural heritage buildings and streets that hide the magic of Ancient Chile, as few buildings have survived after the intense earthquakes the country has suffered over the decades. You will be also stopping by the Palace of Justice and the Ex National Congress on the way.
Continuing on the tour, you will be heading towards Plaza de Armas, a typical meeting place for locals, where you can appreciate the Mapuche monument, Santiago Cathedral, the Post office and Municipality of Santiago. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Museum of National History. After continuing for a few more blocks, you will arrive in the Central Market, an internationally renowned market for its gastronomy.
You will be able to appreciate the fresh seafood of the fish market, offered by the Chilean Sea, as well as bakeries, typical restaurants, and others. The route will continue along Parque Forestal until Plaza Italia, which will be the tour's last stop.
