What to Expect
You will start your journey at Santa Lucia Hill, the foundational site of the city which is now a beautiful park. Not too far away, you will see the Palacio La Moneda, the seat of government. Across the downtown streets, you will find other old buildings including the House of Justice, the National Parliament, and the Royal Costumes which nowadays hosts the Museum of Pre-Colombian arts, one the most comprehensive exhibits of the continent.
The main square, Plaza de Armas, has been the heart and soul of the city and the meeting place of typical urban characters and street artists from the colonial times until today. You will visit the Cathedral and see the old buildings of the colonial administration, which today host the Main Post, the National Historical Museum, and the City Council.
Your journey proceeds through the pedestrian streets full of commerce up to Barrio Mapocho, a neighborhood where the old railway station “Estación Mapocho” is found, as well as Mercado Central, the fish market. This is the best place in Santiago to enjoy the Chilean seafood specialties. If you want to stay for lunch, a Pisco Sour is included in the price of the tour.
