Mallorca: Sant Elm to La Trapa Monastery Guided Hike

Mallorca: Sant Elm to La Trapa Monastery Guided Hike

Enjoy a gentle coastal walk on Mallorca from the picturesque village of Sant Elm to the peaceful sanctuary of La Trapa Monastery. This journey takes you through the rugged beauty of the island's landscape. Start your trip in the charming coastal village of Sant Elm, located on the southwestern coast of Mallorca. This village offers stunning views of the sea and the nearby Dragonera Island. Take some time to explore Sant Elm's narrow streets, perhaps grab a coffee or snack to energize yourself for the hike ahead. The trail to La Trapa Monastery starts from Sant Elm, usually near the seafront or the edge of the village. Look for signs or ask locals for directions to the trailhead. The trail initially winds through the outskirts of Sant Elm, offering glimpses of the Mediterranean Sea along the way. As you leave Sant Elm behind, the trail begins to ascend into the hills that characterize much of Mallorca's interior. The terrain may vary from rocky paths to more forested sections, providing a diverse and engaging hiking experience. Be prepared for some uphill sections, but the views you'll encounter make the effort worthwhile. Throughout the hike, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the coastline, with the sparkling Mediterranean stretching out before you. Take plenty of breaks to soak in the scenery and capture some photos to remember the experience. After a few hours of hiking, you'll finally reach La Trapa Monastery, a remote and peaceful sanctuary nestled in the hills. This monastery, founded in the 19th century, offers a fascinating glimpse into Mallorca's religious history. Take some time to explore the monastery grounds, including its chapel and surrounding gardens. Many hikers choose to rest and enjoy a picnic lunch at La Trapa before beginning their descent back to Sant Elm. You can savor the tranquility of the monastery surroundings while refueling for the journey back. The hike back to Sant Elm follows the same trail you took to reach La Trapa, but with the added bonus of different perspectives on the landscape. Take your time on the descent, as some sections may be steep or rocky. As you return to Sant Elm, take a moment to reflect on the beauty and serenity of Mallorca's countryside. You've completed a challenging yet immensely rewarding hike, and now it's time to relax and unwind in the village, perhaps treating yourself to a well-deserved meal at one of Sant Elm's restaurants.

It was really beautiful! We didn't go to the caves because of the windy weather, but we were able to easily switch to a trip to the island of Dragonera. Our English-speaking guide explained everything really well and was really great in other ways too. I would do it again anytime, thank you for everything.

We had a wonderful trip with Kathrin! She is super friendly, very competent and took a lot of time and told us lots of interesting things. On the way back we even saw dolphins! We'd love to come back :)

Amazing caves and coastline, you get to go right into those places which are unreachable by foot or from a normal boat. Guides are super friendly and chilled, can highly recommend this tour!

Catrin has been amazing. Views are wonderful and the experience is really great. totally recommend it !

The area is beautiful, the material is high quality and Kathrin accompanied us brilliantly!
