What to Expect
San Salvador is an amazing city in Central America offering a wide variety of ways to enjoy its various sights. On this tour, spend an entire day in the company of a private guide being shown the must-see sites and learning about the capital city's history and culture.

Drive through the city in an air-conditioned vehicle to see the main avenues and monuments of San Salvador, including the primary residential zones of Colonia Escalón, Colonia Flor Blanca, and Santa Elena. These neighborhoods are teeming with busy activity and help visitors see more of the local culture that the city emanates within the boundaries of the community.

You will also visit the historical center of San Salvador. This area boasts many different historical sites including the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Savior. This site is the place where the old Temple of Santo Domingo (St. Dominic) once was, and now stands as a proud monument to the Salvadorian people.

Residing within the square is the Imperial Palace. The palace suffered a fire on 19 December 1889 and was reconstructed after. It now consists of more than 100 secondary rooms and 4 main rooms.

The square also contains important locations including the National Theater, El Rosario Church, Plaza Libertad, Plaza Morazán, and Plaza Gerardo Barrios.

Make a special stop at the "Divina Providencia Chapel," the site of the assassination of Monseñor Romero on 24 March 1980. Monseñor Romero was a bishop of the Catholic Church in El Salvador and was conducting mass when he was shot.

Before the tour ends, you will also have the chance to see a "volcanito," which is a smaller volcano within a larger volcano. This amazing site lies in the protected natural area of San Salvador.
