Will is the best tour guide I’ve had anywhere in the world! He is very knowledgeable and helpful. We learned all kinds of things not only about the Santa Ana volcano but about the recent and long term history of El Salvador. The hike is very pretty and the view along the way and at the top is well worth it. So glad my friend and I came to this beautify country, booked this tour and had Will as our guide. I’d highly recommend this to other travels. Also, there are rocks on the trail about the last third of the way, hiking poles were very helpful to me and helped me navigate both directions better and maintain my balance. If you don’t have your own, there are sticks for rent on site.
Willian was a great guide. I booked this tour the night before and he picked me up at a location set during the reservation. Willian provided a lot of information about the volcano and also about the recent changes in El Salvador. The hike is about 6km to the top and back and took about 3 hours. The only downside for me was that I traveled solo and I did the tour on a Wednesday so unfortunately I was the only person going from San Salvador. But there were plenty of tourists at the volcano hike. Apparently weekends are a better time to do it if you want to do it with more people. Overall it was good and very informative. The hike was not too difficult and the views from the top are worth it.
