At 35 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama and 3475 meters above sea level, embedded in a large broken stone, is the Termas de Puritama. Puritama hot springs is a series of eight large pools of geothermal spring water located at the bottom of a canyon in the Atacama Desert. The name Puritama in indigenous language means hot waters. The area is designed for family rest and has 8 pools of warm water with a temperature between 25 and 34 ° C. The water has medicinal and therapeutic properties as it draws minerals that brings the Puritama springs. Its waters are considered thermal waters and has components of meso-sodium sulfate, chlorine, sulfates, magnesium, sodium, lithium, potassium, calcium, and boron.
