Full description
Head to the outskirts of San Pedro de Atacama to witness the high-altitude landscapes of famous salt flats, stunning lagoons, and a local village on a full-day excursion. Have breakfast and continue on to the great Atacama Salt Flats, the third largest salt flat and largest lithium reserve in the world.

Continue to the high plateau to see the Altiplanic Lagoons, Miscanti and Miñique, located over 4,000 meters above sea level and surrounded by snow capped mountains. This is one of the few nesting sites of the horned coot bird, endemic to this area, and the habitat of numerous aquatic birds and mammals, such as the culpeo fox and the vicuña, part of the camel family.

Continue on to the Talar Salt Flat and the Piedras Rojas lookout. From here, see the reddish volcanic rocks in their remarkable natural environment. Enjoy a picnic lunch before returning to San Pedro, arriving around 4:00 PM.
