As evening approaches look out for the national bird of Trinidad and Tobago, the Scarlet Ibis, named after its vibrant scarlet color. Evening is when the birds return to the swamp to roost, after feeding during the day, creating a spectacle of color. In addition to the ibis and flamingoes, Caroni is home to 180-plus bird species, including herons, kingfishers and the colorful masked cardinal, depicted on T&T's $50 note, as well as spectacled caiman, Cook's tree boas, crab-eating raccoons and silky anteaters.

Drive along the scenic North Coast Road for epic views of dense rainforests, tree-covered mountains, and the bright blue waters of the sea. After you've gotten your fill of this pristine beach, you will drive to Blanchisseuse, where you can float in the gentle current of the Marianne River. From the river, enjoy up-close views of flourishing vegetation and rainforest plants. Hike through the rainforest and along a flat riverbed before you arrive at the 100-foot (30-m) Avocat falls, one of Trinidad's most stunning naturally occurring phenomenon. Swim in the large pools around the falls and enjoy yourself before eating a picnic lunch. On the return trip, stop in Blanchisseuse to bathe in the Marianne River's natural lagoon. You get a chance to make additional stops at Las Cuevas or Maracas Bay, where you can enjoy a crispy shark sandwich before returning to your hotel in Port of Spain.

You begin with the highlights of the city of Port of Spain including the many historic buildings downtown before arriving at the Queen’s Park Savannah with its Magnificent Seven colonial-style mansions. Drive on the scenic North Coast Road to admire views of the Caribbean Sea, then settle in at Maracas Bay, a sandy beach framed by mountain rainforests. Walk, swim, or relax on the beach (1.5hrs), and even get the chance to taste a typical crispy shark sandwich prepared with homemade bread (cost on own). Board a large flat-bottomed boat to explore the narrow waterways, lined with long “bizarre” mangrove roots. Scroll through the wide-open lagoons with the majestic Northern Range towering in the background…. marvel at the wildlife and most impressively—the bright red colored Scarlet Ibis, Trinidad’s National Bird. After one relaxing and joyful hour of experiencing and learning about the boats, stops and absolute silence steps in. Take a scenic and relaxing drive along the breathtaking North Coast of Trinidad, to the village Ring Kong where you will begin the hike to the Zorro Falls where you can bathe in the plunge pool and slide from the large rocks into the pool. You can climb up the rocks next to the fall to discover another waterfall above it (it’s a double waterfall). You can stand up under this fall and take a massage. ☺ As we hike back from the falls it lunch time Bake & Shark a fish sandwich at Maracas Beach (cost on own). A crispy flat-bread with fried fish and delicious sauces! Beware of the hot pepper, Trinidad boasts the second hottest pepper in the world!
