The highest calibre equestrian experience on Lake Atitlan Guatemala. Our horses are well cared for and loved. This is more than a follow-the-leader riding experience. You will feel like an Indiana Jones adventurer as you ride into the cloud forest.
What to Expect
Ten kilometers from the Mayan community of Santiago Atitlan is the heart of Xetuc country Xetuc means “where the mountain meets the water”. Nestled at the base of Xetuc Ridge, on the southwest shore of Lake Atitlan, Finca Xetuc is a gateway into the only cloud forest found in the Pacific Basin. The cloud forest extends from Volcano San Pedro to Volcano Atitlan. Xetuc Ridge offers a spectacular view of Lake Atitlán on one side and the Pacific slope on the other, and on a clear day you may see the Pacific Ocean.
Breakfast Ride (7:00 AM - 11:30 AM)
The Breakfast Ride is a must for those early risers who enjoy horseback riding before a gourmet breakfast. The ride begins with getting acquainted over a cup of homegrown Guatemalan coffee and fresh baked goods. After introductions, the group departs on a trail that takes you through corn and coffee fields before entering the mountain pass and working up to El Mirador. You will have a great view of the Lake, and, on a clear day, possibly the Pacific Ocean. The group then returns to the finca for breakfast and a tour of the gardens.
Lunch Ride (9:30 AM – 3:30 PM)
Our original ride is a great way to spend the day. The ride portion of this adventure is the same as the morning ride. Upon returning to the finca, guests will be served a gourmet lunch and beverages, with some time to explore the gardens. During the dry season you have the option of starting the ride at 10:30 AM and ending at 4:30 PM.
