Beautiful tour but I would recommend taking the Zipline if that is what you like. Walking around, you could not see a lot of animals. Although it is a cloud forest, but if you booked the walking tour in other rain forest, I think you could do something fun for this one.

Our guide Juan got us to where we needed to be on time for the various stops on this trip. He was very helpful such as pointing out plants and animals of interest and guiding us around the coffee plantation. He also sorted out a quick breakfast stops for us which wasn't scheduled in the itinerary. He also took us to a view point near where we had lunch which provided spectacular views all the way down to the Pacific Ocean. It is a long day trip from San Jose, but worth it to see the cloud forest. We were guided around the hanging bridges by another guide (also called Juan) who managed to spot animals and plants that we would have walked straight past without seeing, such as a porcupine, howler monkey, humming bird and tiny orchids. The highlight was spotting the Resplendent Quetzal in the tree tops as we crossed the highest of the eight bridges.

Booked this tour on GetYourGuide in San Jose. Was such a nice day tour out of San Jose. Juan speaks very good English and was a great guide, he was attentive, friendly, helpful but also respected our own space. Monteverde was amazing - there was a local guide who led us on the hike and he was very knowledgable and the hanging bridges and the the rainforest were simply breath taking. Other people on the tour were super friendly and nice too. The lunch was at a really nice restaurant providing high quality local cuisine. Not like a typical tourist spot. This is a must-go experience!
