Start your trip at around 5:00 AM from different points established in the main provinces: San Jose and Alajuela. With the whole group, go to breakfast which will be approximately 1.5 hours after leaving the Central Valley. After having refueled on energy, continue your journey towards Bijagua de Upala, which is a small town located very close to your destination. Arrive at Tenorio Volcano National Park at around 9:30 AM and start your guided tour to the different attractions of this beautiful park. Enjoy a 3 kilometer walk, during which you can observe the natural beauties that the park has to offer. The trail passes through the main points of attraction and scenery of the park. Currently the volcano is inactive, but has a wide variety of flora and fauna. Many of these species are in danger of extinction such as the Danta, Tepezcuintle and puma, so hopefully you can spot them on the trail. Your first visit will be the Celeste River Waterfall. Enjoy the incredible natural beauty of this 20 meter high waterfall. See three of the five craters that the Tenorio Volcano has, Tenorio 1, Tenorio 2 and Montezuma from the highest point of the trail. Take the chance to visit the Blue Lagoon and a few meters from this beautiful path, reach the "Teñideros," which is where the river takes its blue color from and where the explanation for this curious phenomenon derives from. Finishing the tour, see the fumaroles which will remind you that we are in an active volcano. Around 1:00 PM the tour finishes, and you will enjoy a nice lunch. Leave the park at 2:30 PM, taking the road back to San Jose and arrive at your place of departure at around 6:30 PM.
