Full description
This is a unique opportunity you don't want to miss. Learn  about and cook at a historic Mexican huerta. This property dates back to the 19th Century. Los Tamarindos used to cultivate sugar cane and after lying fallow for several years, the farm was rededicated to the cultivation of organic produce in 2003. Located in San Jose del Cabo only a mile (1.6 km) away from the Estuary and five minutes away from downtown, this 17-acre estate is devoted to developing the most rigorous agricultural process. Carefully selected seeds and chemical free crops planted and cared in the estate's soil by expert hands.  As a result the harvest is of unparalleled taste and freshness.  During this tour you will have the opportunity to tour the field, learn about the process of organic agriculture, take a cooking class with one of Los Cabos top chefs and then enjoy a delicious lunch. Guest arrives and congregates under a large mango tree where they are offered fresh juice or iced tea. As this is a working organic farm with strict hygiene standards, you will be asked to wash and disinfect your hands before the tour begins. Baskets and scissors will be distributed for collecting produce from the field, and participants will receive instructional information on organic agriculture. As the tour continues to the field, the guide and agricultural engineer with vast experience as an organic farmer, will point out different aromatic herbs and vegetables, demonstrate the proper way to pick each of them and explain what it takes to become a certified organic farm. From the field you will head up to the ranch house for a talk with Tamarindo's extraordinary chef where he will walk through what the group will be making. You will have ample opportunity to ask questions as you cook, and will get to smell each of the different ingredients will be use to prepare the meal.   Once the dishes are completed you will enjoy the delicious lunch on the sunny outdoor terrace.

The cooking class was great and the food and company excellent. I was an hour late as Gray Line was unable to find my hotel, even though I sent a separate email with the address for Maria Mar Suites

Great fun. Met lots of nice people from all over. The grounds were beautiful and of course the herbs and vegetables were wonderful! Wonderful assortment of herb infused cocktails!
