This is one of the best tours I have ever done. Our guide, Luis Arturo, was the best guide I have ever had. He knew everything. He answered every question we had. I feel like our group got a personal experience with Tikal thanks to the knowledge Luis shared. Now for the transportation. Guatemala does not let Belize drivers to drive there. So you take a shuttle to the border, walk through, and catch the next shuttle on the Guatemala side. We get over and find our driver, Rudy, only to find out the road up ahead is closed. The operators coordinated together to make sure we got our tour. They had a car on each side of the road closure so we only had to make a short walk across a bridge to find the shuttle on the other side. They walked with us to make sure we didn’t get lost. It turned into a long day for everyone because of the road closure but it was so much worth the effort. We really appreciate the work from all involved to make sure we got the tour. Oh! The lunch was amazing! Thanks

This was an incredible experience! Our guide, Luis, might have been the most knowledge person I have met in my entire life. He knew EVERYTHING—about Tikal, yes, but also about sociology, psychology, archeology, you name it. It was an amazing tour and unlike anything I’ve ever done before! And the lunch was super delicious, too. Even my picky eater of a kid tried something new!

Full description

Start with pickup from San Ignacio at 7:00 AM, and take a 15-minute drive to Guatemalan border. Be assisted at the border by your guide, and continue on the 2-hour long journey to Tikal. Discover the ancient Mayan site of Tikal which is considered to be one of the most spiritual locations on earth. Once at the national park, see the abundance of wildlife surrounding the temples. Discover how the Mayan civilization built inspiring temples and cities that formed a vast complex of religious, social and political power.  Enjoy a guided tour of the main sights of the complex, which is estimated to have over 3,000 structures including palaces, temples, ceremonial platforms, ball courts, terraces, plazas, causeways, and reservoirs. See several of the main temples including the tallest structure which measures 212 feet.  After visiting the main parts of Tikal, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Then, drive back to San Ignacio you can stop at the local gift shops, with arrival back in San Ignacio at approximately 4:30 PM.

In one word: Fantastic! The driver picked me up on time at my hotel and got us to the Belize-Guatemala border in due time. From there, Willie met us and got us through customs and into our guide van and off we went to Tikal. Willie was very nice, friendly and knowledgeable and answered all our questions and told us all of the local history of the area as we drove along. Once at Tikal, we were treated to a wonderful day of sights and history from Willie, who let us take as much time as we wanted throughout the complex. After the tour, we had a very delicious lunch that Willie had called in for ahead of time. We got back to and through the border and our first driver Edgar was waiting to transport us back to our hotel. What a great day with a great tour company!
