Belize: Mayan Ruins and inland Blue Hole Tour

1. Belize: Mayan Ruins and inland Blue Hole Tour

The Xunantunich Mayan Ruins are some of the finest Maya Ruins in Belize. The drive from Hopkins to the Blue Hole and Xunantunich Mayan site in western Belize takes you through the scenic Hummingbird Highway and the western villages of Belize. This is a cultural experience, sightseeing tours with first hand views of the countryside, Mayan Mountains, farms, colorful homes and San Ignacio farmers market. Experience an authentic Belizean lunch in the immediate area of the ruins. Along the way back, we will make a stop at the cenote at Blue Hole National Park on the Hummingbird Highway, this is a great place to swim or just take pictures an enjoy the nature. The Blue Hole cenote was formed by the collapse of an underground limestone cave. In this case, the river running through the original cavern still flows through the cave system, and forms a sapphire-colored pool at the bottom of the sinkhole. The depression measures about 100 feet deep and 300 feet in diameter, with the actual blue hole at the depression’s base having a depth of about 25 feet.

What people are saying about San Ignacio, Belize

Francisco showed us a great time in San Ignacio. He picked us up from our hotel and drove us out to Caracol pointing out interesting sights along the way. We stopped at a cave, climbed many Mayan ruins, dove off some cliffs by a waterfall, and enjoyed a delicious picnic lunch. A busy day that exceeded everyone’s expectations. I particularly appreciated our guide Francisco’s knowledge of both ancient Mayan history and the general area. Next time we are in San Ignacio we will be using the same tour company “Belize Caving Expeditions” and requesting Francisco.

this was such a fantastic tour. it's a trek to get out to Caracol (2 hr drive down bumpy roads) but SO worth it. the site is absolutely gorgeous and there are very few tourists there which makes for a special experience. but what made our tour the most was our guide, Leo. he is friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. he was happy to answer all our questions about the site, as well as about Belize. spending a day with Leo was a highlight of our whole trip across Belize.

Amazing experience and highly recommend! Our guide was extremely informative. Very helpful, and a blast to be with. I would definitely recommend this for anyone coming to Belize that wants to have a once in a life time experience (although I want to come back and do it twice) If I had to leave with just one thing for you guys it is that this whole experience was amazing and a must try if you haven’t yet

Amazing cave exploration experience! Sisco was an exceptional guide. I fully recommend this tour to anyone staying in San Ignacio.

Such a great excursion! Very educational and doable even for our kids. Highly recommend
