Enjoy a private tour of San Gimignano, an UNESCO World Heritage Site hidden among beautiful green hills.
What to Expect
San Gimignano is world-famous for its medieval architecture. It is encircled by three walls and the ruins of a fortress dismantled in the 16th century dominate the hill. There are eight gates to enter the city, but the main gate is Porta San Giovanni on the ridge extending south, towards Siena and Pisa, and Porta San Matteo to the north-west, towards Florence and Chianti.
Via San Matteo and Via San Giovanni are the main streets, which cross the city from north to south. The heart of the town includes Piazza Duomo, where the Collegiata Church stands, and the medieval Town Hall with Torre Grossa and the Piazza della Cisterna. The towers in San Gimignano dominate the city and make it a truly picturesque landscape. Once there you also can't miss the fortress with its amazing views.
