The Alcatraz audio tour was well done and a sufficient length of time. It was nice to be able to walk around the Rock at our own pace as well. I would recommend the tour.

This was a chance to visit the iconic Alcatraz, whilst we were visiting San Francisco. We were blessed with ideal Spring weather, great visibility and relatively small crowds. We visited in March, before the main summer rush. It was still very busy so be prepared for big crowds and book well in advance to be sure of your place. There was an audio guide inside the prison which allows you to travel at your own pace. The audio experience lasts about lasts 1 hour, but you have as much time as you like on the island to look around and explore. It is truly fascinating, although the buildings are getting to be rather dilapidated now, there is plenty to feed the imagination. Loved it. A great day out!!

You will explore INSIDE the Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary on Alcatraz Island with America’s most ruthless criminals, including Al Capone.

The ferry will leave on time at the specific time you booked. You have to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time at Pier 33. Walk, bike, take public transportation, or drive (as a last resort as it can be challenging to find parking), with easy access from anywhere around the Bay!

On the island follow the Cellhouse audio tour “Doing Time” 45 minutes available in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

Also included is an amazing 1 hour SF Bay Cruise. Sail past the famous PIER 39 sea lions and along San Francisco’s historic waterfront, revealing the city’s fascinating skyline.You have the flexibility to go on your cruise on any day at any available departure. You will receive the schedule.

Meeting point

Pier 33 is exclusive to Alcatraz tour operation and there is only 1 boat who goes to Alcatraz. For the Bay Cruise you can go before or after same day depending or another day from Pier 39 (exchange the voucher at Blue and Gold Fleet box office)

I wasn't sure what to expect from Alcatraz as it didn't feature that highly on my own personal activities for my trip but my son was keen, so we went. I genuinely found it really interesting and engaging. The in person tour was well done and Brian was great to listen to. The audio tour was professional and engaging. We got very lucky with the weather on the Bay Cruise too and that was definitely a highlight of our trip.
