Full description

See the giant redwoods at Muir Woods National Monument and stroll through the picturesque city of Sausalito on a guided tour from San Francisco. Choose to extend your time in Sausalito and return by ferry, or rent a bike to explore on 2 wheels.

Meet your guide in San Francisco and board the bus to begin your experience. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge as you leave the city, and pass through the Rainbow Tunnels on Highway 101. Admire the views of tidal flats and rolling hills, with Mount Tamalpais in the distance.

Arrive at Muir Woods National Monument, where you’ll spend 1 hour and 15 minutes exploring. Stroll through the landscape of giant sequoia trees, unchanged since the Coast Miwok Native American tribe lived here centuries ago.

Follow the Nature Trail along Redwood Creek, passing 500- to 800-year-old redwoods. Wander through Cathedral and Bohemian Groves. Be sure to stop at the Visitor Center and the gift shop for more gems.

Continue onto Sausalito, a coastal community filled with elegant homes that face the bay. Enjoy a 1-hour stop to explore the city, which has unrivaled views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline.

See the unique colony of floating homes moored along the waterfront. Walk through the downtown area — a National Historic Landmark District —  passing quaint boutique shops, galleries, and restaurants.

Select the option including the Sausalito ferry, to enjoy a scenic 1-way ferry trip back to San Francisco. Upgrade your activity with a 4-hour bike rental to extend your time in Fisherman's Wharf. With this option, you can explore at your own pace and return to San Francisco at your leisure.

First, the tour was amazing. Joe had a very soothing voice (like Bob Ross). Unfortunately, there was a problem with the tour guide being sick. So, they had to find a replacement. They did. They tried to keep in touch. I was lucky that I didn't have any other commitments that day. Withdraw on vacation isn't fun, but, still, it was great.

Tour was exactly as described and tour guide was very helpful. Started in Muir Woods which was beautiful. Ended in Sausilito and took the ferry ride back. For those going would only note that this only provides a very basic intro to both these areas and I left feeling that I could have spent an entire day in either location and wanting to come back to finish that (Was a bit rushed for time)

Amazing! Beautiful time in Muir Woods and Sausalito. Would have like about another 30 min in Muir just to not feel rushed about the hike to Bridge 4. We are active and took the Hillside trail but really felt like we had to move fast thru it. Got back in time to grab a water and get on the bus. So much to see and so amazingly beautiful! Sausalito is a very cool town. We chose to walk north of the drop off point and should have walked farther South along the Bay. We weren't pressed for time, but we also didn't want to stay another hour+ waiting for the next ferry. Came back by Ferry and that was really cool. Glad we chose this option for sure. Our Guide was great and had great knowledge of San Fran and the areas we went to.
