great tour and love the information and knowledge the driver Patrick had. Patrick included everyone in conversation when talking abt information by saying, that one was for you "st louis" . where ever you were visiting from. Patrick gave us enough time to explore muri woods. he made sure everyone was back on bus. he also recommended some good spots to eat, like in and out burger. love that he took our pictures in front of golden gate Bridge. great spot and picture opportunity.

My wife and I were overwhelmed by what we saw at Muir woods the trees the silence and the sheer awe of the place was a testament to God's creation. We were visiting from Australia and while we have large trees here they are nothing compared to what you have in Muir woods national park. Truly wonderful experience. Thank you, James and Gillian.

Hop on board a bus tour of Muir Woods. Experience the awe and wonder of one of California’s oldest redwood groves as you stroll through dedicated paths of 1000-year-old redwood trees. Your tour will begin with a 45-minute, fully-narrated scenic drive that heads across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and into coastal mountains on the Marin Headlands. Arrive at Muir Woods National Forest where you will be provided park entry tickets and have 1.5 hours to explore the park at your own pace - maps detailing walking trails will be available at the Muir Woods Visitor Center. After exploring the park, enjoy a scenic drive to the coastal town of Sausalito. This beautiful seaside Mediterranean-style town offers a wide selection of distinctive boutiques, restaurants, parks, cafés, and unique art galleries. Guests may choose to stay in Sausalito and return on their own to San Francisco via ferry, or remain on the bus and return to a designated drop-off point within San Francisco.

Know before you go

  • Please note that you have the option to end your tour in Sausalito and not return to San Francisco with Big Bus. You will be responsible for your own return in that case and ferry options for return are available in downtown Sausalito

If you don’t want to rent a car, this is the best way to see Muir Woods and Sausalito. You get a nice tour of parts of SF on your way to Muir Woods and you get dropped off right at the entrance instead of walking from one of the parking lots. Muir Woods was beautiful but 90 minutes is really only enough time to walk the main path. I would have liked more time to walk other trails. The bus then took us to Sausalito for 45 minutes which is not enough time. You are given the option to forgo the bus ride back to SF and take the ferry instead which I highly recommend. This allows time to have lunch at one of the many restaurants in town, shopping, and walking along the harbor promenade. The cost of the trip is worth what you get to see while not having to worry about getting a car and parking reservation, plus you learn fun and interesting tidbits along the way. Lester was our guide and was quite humorous throughout the bus portions of the tour.
