  • Explore the quaint coastal community of Carmel
  • Enjoy a 1-hour Golden Gate Bay Cruise and take in breathtaking views of the majestic Golden Gate Bridge
Travel south from San Francisco along California’s rugged coastline and admire the stunning views on the way to Monterey and Carmel. Later you’ll enjoy a 1-hour Golden Gate Bay Cruise, and see iconic sights such as the Golden Gate Bridge.
What to Expect
Your full-day tour to Monterey and Carmel begins in the early morning with a drive south from San Francisco along Highway 1. Along the way you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, passing through Half Moon Bay and the seaside town of Santa Cruz.

The route takes you through the Salinas valley, the artichoke capital of the world, and to Monterey and Steinbeck’s Cannery Row.

In Monterey, you’ll have time to explore the shops and restaurants along the wharf, or visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium that’s home to more than 250,000 creatures and over 200 spectacular galleries.

After visiting Monterey you’ll continue along the coast to see Pacific Grove, 17-Mile Drive, Pebble Beach, Seal Rock, and the legendary Lone Cypress. Spend some time in quaint Carmel, home of Clint Eastwood, and see its unique boutiques, cafés, and charming cottage-type homes. Pass by one of the oldest Spanish missions in the country. Note that poor weather conditions may require alternate driving routes.

After a day of exploring the California coast you’ll return to San Francisco via route 101 through San Jose and the Silicon Valley, the computer capital of the world.

When you’re back in San Francisco you can head to the waterfront to take the Red and White Fleet's 1-hour Golden Gate Bay Cruise. San Francisco’s original bay cruise adventure has been sailing since 1939! Not only is it the original, it’s also the only San Francisco boat trip with commentary offered in 16 languages.

From the comfort of the ship you’ll take in views of the waterfront, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz Island. Learn about this city’s rich cultural history as you cruise past the area’s most famous landmarks.
