Cross San Francisco Bay on a journey to the notorious Alcatraz Prison by ferry. This world-famous prison served as a federal penitentiary from 1934 to 1963 and housed infamous criminals like Al Capone and Robert Stroud, the Birdman. Take the award-winning 45-minute Cellhouse audio tour and hear the tales of those who lived in Alcatraz. This tour brings history alive through the recounting of tales from correctional officers and prisoners. Your bike tour will take place the previous day 10:00 AM. Set off from Fisherman’s Wharf and enjoy a leisurely cycle for around 3 hours. You’ll be kitted out with a current model bike, front handlebar bag, lock, helmet, rear gear rack, and takeaway map – and then you’ll be ready to head out on tour! Follow the San Francisco waterfront with your guide, past Aquatic Park, Fort Mason, the Marina, and the Presidio, through Crissy Field and to Fort Point. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge on a wide bike path, and then proceed to Vista Point and on to Old Fort Baker. The cycling tour comes to an end in Sausalito where you’ll have time to enjoy the shops, the many art galleries, and the delicious food. You can return to San Francisco right after the tour ends, or you may keep the bike until closing hours and enjoy additional time exploring this fascinating area on your own. Important Note: All bike tours take place 1 day prior to your selected Alcatraz departure. The takeover of the bikes went really well. I can only recommend taking e-bikes for an additional fee of $ 25 (paid locally). The tour of the Golden Gate with several stops was terrific. After completing the guided tour in Sausalito, the bikes can still be used freely until the bike station closes (8 p.m.). San Francisco is great for exploring by bike. The Alcatraz tour also worked out perfectly. The tickets were already ready and we had the opportunity to drive to the prison island an hour earlier than given. However, the rush was very low. All in all very recommendable!

I have done Alcatraz and it was amazing experience. I cannot believe how close it is to the mainland. It is hard to believe that was people’s homes and the staff & family with children lived there too. The boat transfer was great nice & easy no problems all round defo ya must if you have never done it!!

It was a very nice and educational trip. Our guide was excellent and offered singing along the tour. There were some slopes, but it went well despite a regular bike. We had incredibly hot weather, so it was perfect that it was possible to refill the water bottle along the way. Highly recommended to do this tour.
