What to Expect
For more than a century San Francisco’s Nob Hill, the city’s Jewel in the Crown, has been associated with the upper crust, the beau monde, la dolce vita. Its wealthy residents made their fortunes in the mid-1800s in gold, silver, and railroads.

Following the city’s destruction in the 1906 earthquake and fire, the hill rose above the scene of complete devastation.

On this 2-hour tour, you’ll start out from the Cable Car Museum. This is the perfect place to begin, as without the cable car, Nob Hill would never have been developed.

Nob Hill is still an affluent district, home to many of the city's wealthy families, a large young urban professional population, and a growing Chinese immigrant population as well.

Near the cable car stop at the intersection of California and Powell streets you’ll see 4 of Nob Hill’s well-known and most expensive hotels: the Fairmont, the Mark Hopkins, the Stanford Court, and the Huntington.

Across from the Fairmont Hotel and the Pacific Union Club you’ll see magnificent Grace Cathedral, one of the city's largest houses of worship.
