Complete the trip by taking the helm from the captain for a chance to steer the boat yourself: it's the perfect activity for kids as well as kids at heart. The captain and crew are always there, happy to snap a photo or answer your questions about the sights of San Francisco.
If all this excitement makes you hungry, there are snacks, soda, beer, or wine available at the cabin's snack bar. So come and see San Francisco's skyline like never before on this incredible sailing adventure.
The second part of your combination tour is a ferry ride and visit the notorious Alcatraz Prison, which served as a federal penitentiary from 1934 to 1963 and housed infamous criminals like Al Capone and Robert Stroud, the Birdman. Take the award-winning 45-minute Cellhouse audio tour and hear the tales of those who lived Alcatraz. This tour brings history to life through the recounting of tales from correctional officers and prisoners.

Nice Bay Cruise but no Commentary!
The crew before during and after the cruise couldn't have been nicer. But not a word was spoken about where we were in the Bay and what we were seeing. After about 30 minutes, I approached the woman behind the bar and asked about commentary. She handed me an audio-guide, of which they had dozens and said I could look at the list of topics and listen. As far as I could tell, no mention was made of the guides and passengers were just sitting or standing, staring out of the boat. A huge omission! For this reason I would never recommend this cruise. The Alcatraz cruise was much better. t seemed duplicative though, to bring our tickets we'd purchased online only to have to go to the ticket booth to redeem them into actual tickets--more inconvenience for us and more time and money for the company. I'd do the Alcatraz cruise again.

Absolutely amazing!
I'm so glad I did this trip! I spent all morning on Alcatraz and then upon returning to San Francisco it was just a short walk to the golden gate cruise. I was really pleasantly surprised to find that rather than being on a big tourist boat we were on a beautiful catamaran. There was a really small group of us so there was no fighting for space to get the best views. It was a sunny October day so we got some beautiful photos of the bay, the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz from the water. I cannot say how amazing the crew were and I will recommend this to everyone I know. Thanks for a wonderful day!
