A great experience being able to snorkel with sea lions, coming right below and to the side of you. I know they can't guarantee being able to swim with sea lions but there were so many around I definitely wasn't disappointed! The caves were great and our guide was very lovely and seems to be accommodating to be people of all experience levels to the best of his abilities. Definitely recommend!

Join a snorkeling tour to one of the best sites for snorkeling in San Diego, La Jolla Cove, part of San Diego's beautiful protected marine sanctuary. Enjoy a tour that navigates the protected waters from La Jolla Cove, through Emerald Cove, and to the ancient sea caves.

Enjoy the complimentary use of a mask, snorkel, fins, and even a wetsuit on tours led by skilled guides. Watch for the baby sea lions swimming in the surf. Get a peek at the spiny lobster or colorful octopus hiding along the rocky reefs. Share the ocean with schools of pretty fish or a little ray and check out some of the giant caves.

Meeting point

La Jolla Cove Once you arrive to the La Jolla Cove area. Meet your guide in the large grass area just south of the brick restroom/shower building. When you see the La Jolla Cove Suites Hotel at 1155 Coast Blvd, walk directly across the street from the Hotel, toward the ocean, and onto the grass. This is not a physical building, but the park area at La Jolla Cove where your will meet your guide.

Know before you go

  • Children must snorkel with their parents or legal guardian, with no exceptions.
  • Seniors: often find this tour too strenuous.
  • Swimming skills are required as life jackets and floatation are not allowed.
  • Participants must weigh at least 90 lbs.
  • The maximum weight is 300 lbs as wetsuits in these sizes are not available and wetsuits are required.
  • Parking is difficult, give yourself at least 30 minutes to park.
  • Tours leave on time. More than 10 minutes late is considered no show, you will not be rescheduled or refunded (even if you call).

Unforgettable experience! Rich did an amazing job explaining everything. super kinde and understanding. He seemed very experienced and made the whole trip felt very safe. The group size was perfect. We were able to see sea lions in the water and even spend more time in the water as expected since the conditions were great and the group got alonge very well. would definitely book it again. highly recommend!!
