Full description
On this full-day excursion you’ll take in some of the most breathtaking features of the Nahuel Huapi National Park. Visit lakes, beaches, mountains, and waterfalls, and admire the highest mountain in the Patagonia. Mount Tronador, 3,478 meters high, forms a natural border between Chile and Argentina. From the viewpoint at its base you can see the incredible glacier that feeds the Manso River. See the Ventisquero Negro (Black Glacier) that consists of huge brownish-gray blocks formed by avalanches of ice and mud. Visit La Garganta del Diablo (The Devil’s Throat), a waterfall created by melted glacial ice, surrounded by high rock walls, and see the Saltillo de las Nalcas, a hidden waterfall in the middle of the forest. This mountain’s name, Tronador, comes from the thunderous sounds produced by the massive falling blocks of ice.

You're not going to get a lot of communication in advance so here's how this trip works. We were on a larger bus, very comfortable. They start to pick up at 9am but will go to each hotel, so expect that you could have 10-12 stops. The bus also will stop by the road so be on the lookout outside of your hotel. They don't message you in advance. The tour is quite good, a lot of history, they make about 7 stops in the park. Two of them have restroom areas. The last wil stop will be for two hours and there's a little restaurant there. The Huapi National park is beautiful and this is a great way to see it. Waterfalls, glaciers, mountains. Not a lot of hiking, mostly get out and see an area but the beauty is worth it. This will be a 9 hour round trip so plan for that.

Overall, a very good tour. The tour involves a quite lengthy drive on rough land inside the national park which was indeed tiring but amusing. This is the only way to drive inside the park anyway. Our guide Isis was great: very friendly, very knowledgeable and super helpful. The tour was also good in terms of organization, stops for toilet and brief stops for photos at scenic spots. Something noteworthy (at least to me) is the absence of trash bins in almost all locations. Visitors must return with their residuals due to the limited garbage collection service imposed by the nature of the place. Recommended.
