Full description
Arrive at the Salt Mine Hallein just outside the city of Salzburg, and go the cashier where you can exchange your voucher for a ticket. Enter the location and meet your tour guide for a short safety briefing. Begin your walk through the mysterious tunnels of the Hallein Salt Mine accompanied by your guide. Learn about how people mined salt or 'white gold' back in the day and hear stories about how the first miners dug deep tunnels into the mountain over 2500 years ago. Get dressed up in protective clothing and then board a mine railway to travel deep into the salt mine to start your adventure. The train will take you through more mysterious tunnels, passing a number of informational stops, to the top of the first miner's slide. Take a thrilling slide 50 meters down into the mine along the banks of an underground salt lake. From here, take a short boat ride across the lake and watch a fascinating multimedia show en route. Head down another slide and watch the story of the 'Man Preserved in Salt' brought to life. Find out how in 1577 and again in 1616, records state that bodies of Celtic miners buried by earlier mine collapses were unearthed - their bodies, including clothing, skin, and hair, were preserved by the salt of the mine. At the end of the mine tour, take the chance to visit the Celtic Village at Salina, and discover the roots of the city of Salzburg.

The Salt Worlds offer a very varied program that is also ideal for children. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. When booking, however, you should make sure that you set a specific time, as otherwise there can be very long waiting times. For me as an individual, however, this was not a problem.

interesting historical description

Appreciable the availability of the guides, prepared and of good level of English language. However, it would be appropriate to keep in mind the large influx of Italian tourists and consider the need to have Italian guides. Maybe at fixed times. It is often unknown that most European tourism is of Italian origin and that not everyone has a good knowledge of English. Thanks

salt mines that are worth seeing

on the mine there is to say that it is beautiful to see, the slides are fantastic the kids had fun and also the parents and then the boat on the lake is in a remarkable atmosphere but be careful of the path assigned as from the photos published on the site of the mine we noticed that there are places in the path that we have not seen now I do not know why since we noticed it after we returned to the hotel anyway sore point is that at the counter they speak only English and German and the guide in Italian does not c 'was then get n. tel guide or take the headphones but they cost another 2.50 € more per person.
