Full description

Visit the hometown of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on a full-day tour from Munich. Travel by train and in the imperial city, visit his place of birth (optional), his residence, the streets he walked, and the cafés he drank in.

Salzburg is also one of the most popular set-jetting destinations in the world for one simple reason, “The Sound of Music.” Visit sites you will remember from the silver screen such as the beautiful Mirabelle Gardens where Julie Andrews and the children were filmed singing “Do-Re-Mi.” An expert guide will take you on a 2-hour train ride from Munich to Austria. You will be provided with a map and get a 1.5-hour orientation tour through the major sites.

Explore one of the finest preserved medieval old towns in Europe, crisscrossed with romantic winding shopping streets and venerable market places adorned with outstanding architectural monuments of the later baroque era.

See piazzas and fountains, the stunning Domkirche Cathedral, pleasure gardens, palaces, and churches, monasteries and catacombs, and confectionaries and patisseries. You will also go to the oldest restaurant on the continent. You will then have 3 hours to explore the city for yourself, before meeting up for the return journey.

During your free time, you can visit the breathtaking 900-year-old fortress Festung Hohensalzburg, the magnificent edifice that dominates the city's skyline, itself framed by the spectacular encirclement of mountains stretching into the horizon.

Wonderful experience. If you know your way around Europe, it's cheaper to just buy a train ticket and go to salzburg on your own, but this was my 1st time in a foreign country, and It was very helpful having a guide, one who taught us so much about the city and made the trip really fun!! Thanks Franz! There were many sites and things i wouldn't have known about if he hadn't informed us on. One of my favorite activities on my trip in Germany!

This was an absolutely wonderful day trip, my only wish is that it lasted longer. Maxine was so knowledgeable about everything, and had tons of interesting facts about Mozart, the Sound of Music, and Salzburg itself. She brought us to the oldest restaurant in the world, with a beautiful ambience and delicious food. As a university student on a budget, it was a little pricy, but the members of my group were so generous and kind, that they paid for my meal and train ticket home. The bus & train tickets are included in the tour price, which is very helpful for convenience and efficiency. Maxine let our group explore an extra hour so everyone got more time in the city, but unfortunately, I had to go directly to the airport and couldn’t stay. However, I still saw a lot of what Salzburg had to offer and will definitely be returning!

It was a well organised trip with fifteen people; from different countries. Hats off to the guide Paul who was so friendly and helpful. Good briefing is done when go to the main spots and one has th then go into the specific ones of interest of his own in about three hours time. Finally all meet at a place and get back by train.
