    Combine a dinner and "Best of Mozart"- fortress concert with a popular cruise on the River Salzach and experience Salzburg and its surroundings at its best.  Start your tour in the center of the old town and cruise south past the impressive scenery of the old town. Marvel at one of the city's most popular villa areas and get a glimpse of the impressive Tennen and Hagen Mountains. The 40-minute cruise is followed by an exquisite dinner at the Panorama Restaurant at Hohensalzburg Fortress. Afterwards, listen to a "Best of Mozart"-concert within the most splendid halls of the fortress. Enjoy this unique combination crowned by a final high above the city's rooftops.     Taking place in the most magnificent room in the city - the Golden Hall in the 900 year-old Fortress Hohensalzburg - the "Mozart - Strauss Orchestra Concerts" are unique to Salzburg. The Mozart Chamber Orchestra of Salzburg is a highly professional and internationally sought-after chamber orchestra and plays in a line-up which regularly shifts in size. Deeply steeped in tradition, it predominantly performs the musical treasures of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauss.

    I didn't realize that hese were 3 separate experiences, put together in a bundle. If I had, I would have skipped the cruise. The boat went down the river through areas we've already seen since we had been in Salzburg for a couple of days. The cable car ride and the view up on the Fortress were amazing! We got there before sunset, so we saw the day and night time views. The window seating was worth the VIP price although the food wasn't that good. The chamber music performance was great! I was disappointed that the pianist only played one piece (on a Bosendorfer! I'm a music dropout, what can I say :-) but the rest of the musicians were also exceptional.

    I surprised my husband with the cruise as he loves boating. It was an excellent introduction to the history of Salzburg. The walk to the funicular gave us a glimpse of the old town and its squares. We loved stumbling upon the old time royal pharmacy. We explored the top of Fort Salzburg on our own and took lovely pictures of the incredible scenery. We enjoyed dinner and the Mozart, Dvorak and Strauss concert with talented musicians that followed.

    Very much worth it! The whole experience was elegant and classy. We had the boat ride to begin with the VIP Dinner/Concert/Boat trip. IT was given clearly in 5 different languages and not too in depth. There were 2 spots for children up front to pretend to 'steer' the boat with a wheel. It was quick and easy entertainment. Easy boat landing only about 4 steps near the bike path and then walking through the Bar Boat to get on our craft. It was breezy while sailing. Then, they give you a map to walk through Old Town to the Funicular lift - very easy walk and you have time to do it. Then, some walking within the Fort - up hill and actually some steps! Lots of time for photos of the Fort and the view from the Fort to the surrounding areas. Dinner was served outdoors with the view that was so special. The meal was delicious and ample. Concert was perfectly placed inside a special hall of the Fort with views also. Afterwards, take Funicular down to city level again. Lovely.
